A Call by the Sea
By the edge of the sea, where the waves touch the soul,
A voice calls forth, whispering: Be whole.
For within each heart, a light so divine,
Waits to be nurtured, to flourish, to shine.
No walls of dogma, no limits confine,
The power within us is greater than time.
Infinite spirit, the force of creation,
Moves through us all, with boundless elation.
The world shall awaken, in love and in grace,
We are the vessels, the sacred embrace.
To heal and to serve, to teach and to grow,
This is our mission, the truth we must show.
We are not small, but vast as the sky,
Connected in spirit, we never can die.
Through every hand that reaches to give,
Flows the one life, the power to live.
Let us march forward, as beacons of light,
Turning shadows today, with love as our might.
The kingdom of heaven is not far away—
It lives in our hearts, it blooms in today.
By the sea we are called, to rise and to be
The fullness of God’s own eternity.
For in every soul, the divine plan is spun,
We are not separate—we are all one.
Inspired by Ernest Holmes’s The Sermon by the Sea which tells us that each of us carries within the potential for divine expression and that our purpose is to serve humanity by bringing forth love, healing, and spiritual awareness. I wrote this after contemplating my reading of it and what it said to me.
